Ever feel like just opening your Bible takes more effort than lifting a heavy weight? Yeah—me too sometimes. There are moments when spending time in God’s Word feels hard. And yet, deep down, we know: God calls us to it. He commands us to stay in His Word—not out of obligation, but because it’s our lifeline.
Let’s Tackle It—With God’s Word, Prayer, Love, and Obedience
God’s Word is armour. It’s alive and sharper than any double-edged sword. It’s full of wisdom and truth. It’s literally God speaking to us in letters.
And the best part? Even when you’ve read a verse ten times before, God can reveal something brand new the eleventh time.
What God Led Me to This Year
I’ve always gravitated toward the Old Testament. There’s so much depth to dig into. But this year, God had me camp out in the New Testament—especially Matthew and Luke. And I’m so glad He did. Then—about two weeks ago—I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit:
➡️ “Read Proverbs. All of it. In order.”My honest reaction? Ugh.
Sure, I love Proverbs. It’s packed with golden nuggets of wisdom. But reading it straight through? That felt like a chore. Still, I knew the importance of obedience. Even when it’s inconvenient. Even when it doesn’t make sense.
So, I said yes. (Okay... sometimes a delayed yes. But still—yes.)
And Then God Did What Only He Can Do
Not long after, someone shared a tough situation they were walking through at work. I listened. I prayed with them.
And later, while praying alone, the Holy Spirit brought a specific verse from Proverbs to mind. The exact verse I needed. The one that gave me the words—and the wisdom—to respond with love and clarity.
Jesus said (in His prayer to the Holy Father for His followers) "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:17-18 (part of the Armour of God)
Read all of Ephesians 6.
God knew. He always knows.
💡 Obedience Pays Off
✨ Obedience to the Holy Father, Jesus Christ
✨ Obedience to the Holy Spirit.
It’s not always easy—but it’s always worth it. If you’re in a season where reading the Bible feels heavy…👉 Do it anyway.
Chances are, you’re in a spiritual battle. And when that happens, the best thing you can do is pause, pray, obey by reading the Bible Today!
